Seymour Community Center to reopen June 14

After more than a year of being closed, the Seymour Community Center, 107 S. Chestnut St. in downtown Seymour, will reopen to senior citizens beginning Monday, June 14.

Tentative hours are 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. These hours will be adjusted as needed based on demand.

Seymour Police Department Captain Troy Munson has been named interim police chief.

Seymour Police Department Captain Troy Munson has been named interim police chiefMayor Matt Nicholson made the announcement during Thursday morning’s Seymour Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

Munson will fill in until a new permanent police chief is hired. Applications may be submitted at Seymour City Hall, 301-309 N. Chestnut St. The deadline is June 3.

West Second Street Public Information Meeting

A federally-funded project to reconstruct a portion of West Second Street is moving forward after some major design changes. 

The $10.66 million project will no longer include two roundabouts, but will still improve intersections at Community Drive and Westgate Road/Airport Road for better traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
