The various Parks and Recreational facilities of Seymour, Indiana offer a smorgasbord of activities for children and adults alike.

Freeman Field Recreational Facility Freeman Field Recreational Facility is a 67 acre site that has 3 lighted softball/baseball diamonds with lights, 9 soccer fields, one with lights which all the Seymour High School soccer teams utilize, a shelter house with electrical service, playground and a 2 mile walk/bike/jogging trail which connects the Park to the Freeman Field Industrial Park. We have a concession area, restroom facility that meets ADA requirements and a maintenance area, and a barn that is presently being restored for Departmental storage of equipment and supplies.
Shields Park

Shields Park has two lighted baseball/softball diamonds, horseshoe pits, basketball/volleyball courts, a shelter house with electrical service, picnic areas, playground and more!

Shields Park Pool is located at Shields Park, and is open for public swimming from Memorial Day weekend until school starts in August.

Shields Park has 12.5 acres and is the oldest and first Park for Seymour, Indiana, designated by Meedy Shields in 1852, and is located in the northeast section of town at 6th St. and Broadway. Shields Park has two lighted baseball/softball diamonds, horseshoe pits, basketball/volleyball courts, a shelter house with electrical service, picnic areas, playground, three concession areas, ADA accessible bathrooms, maintenance area and the Shields Park Pool. 

The pool is a 50-meter pool with a water slide, and diving well. The facility opened in 1991, replacing the old facility and is host to the annual swim meet, held the second week-end of July, and records 650 swimmers each year.

Shields Park Pool is located at Shields Park, and is open for public swimming from Memorial Day weekend until school starts in August. A variety of programs are offered during the season that includes swim lessons, infant/parent lessons, private lessons, dive-in movies, lap swim, water exercise, radio days, pool rentals, competitive team that hosts an annual meet the second weekend in July.

Gaiser Park Gaiser Park has 9.9 acres and is located on South Walnut & North Park Drive, and has 1 lighted softball field, volleyball/basketball courts, shelter house with electrical service, playground, central maintenance area, horseshoe pits, picnic areas, concession area and ADA accessible bathrooms.
Kasting Park Kasting Park has 16.9 acres and is located on Kasting Road on the western edge of Seymour and has four lighted youth league baseball/softball diamonds, two batting cages for league use, sheltered playground structure, bathrooms, maintenance and storage, and concession area.
Kessler Park Kessler Park has 6.3 acres and is located on Brown St. & Marley Lane on the southeast section of Seymour and has two lighted youth league baseball/softball diamonds, shelter house, picnic area, playground, a new facility that has a concession area, maintenance and ADA accessible bathrooms.
West Side Park West Side Park has 4 acres, a neighborhood park in the central/western section of Seymour, which has a playground, shelter house, picnic area, basketball court and a sandlot ball diamond.
One Chamber Square One Chamber Square is located in the heart of downtown Seymour, on South Chestnut Street, and hosts many summer picnics sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce, entertainment, education, cultural events and many downtown celebrations and sales promotions.
Park & Recreation Bus Park & Recreation Bus provides the daily Monday through Friday transportation to the Seymour Community Center Meal Site by scheduling at the Center. Day trips are also scheduled at the site, as well as multiple day tour trips in cooperation with Tour Companies. Some of the popular events attended are the Jackson County Fair, Indiana and Kentucky State Fairs, local festivals and points of interest throughout the state.

Seymour Community Center is located two doors away from One Chamber Square, on South Chestnut Street. The Center is open for Older Americans as a meal site, Monday through Friday, that includes social interaction, games, cards, guest speakers, exercise and trips. The trips are scheduled to local festivals, day trips, and tour trips are planned by the Activities Director at the Center. The Agency of Community Services for Older Americans provides the meals and requires registration at the Center and a donation is suggested for the meals. The Center is open for drop-in visitation 9:00 a.m. 

Until 3:00 p.m. The Center is available for rental to local residents on a non-profit basis, by contacting the Park & Recreation Department, at 301-309 North Chestnut Street, 812-522-6420.
