This office consists of the Mayor, Mayor’s Administrative Assistant and the Receptionist. You may call to schedule an appointment with the mayor or to make a request to the Board of Public Works or the City Council. The receptionist can direct you to the proper department for your needs.

The Park and Recreation department maintains the parks in the city: Kessler, Gaiser, Shields, Freeman Field, the West Side Park, and the new Kasting Youth Complex. They organize leagues for the various sports, and schedule reserved areas for picnics and reunions. The Park and Recreation Department administers the Area 11 Agency on Aging program and the Senior Citizen Bus used by that program. Persons wishing to rent the Senior Citizens Center or reserve One Chamber Square for an activity should contact the Park and Recreation Department.

The Department of Planning and Zoning issues
building permits making sure they are in compliance with local
zoning regulations. This department should be contacted with
questions regarding whether or not persons are obeying local
rules regarding outside storage, disposal of discarded items,
fence regulations, signs, parking, and animal restrictions
within the city.

The Department of Public Works
(DPW) maintains Seymour's streets and alleys and is
responsible for trash pickup. The DPW also oversees city-wide
recycling and beautification efforts and partners with other
city departments on special events.

The Seymour Fire Department
has three stations; Station 1 (Headquarters), located at 318
East Street, Station 2, located at 500 W. 5th Street and
Station 3, located at 605 Meadowbrook Dr.. The
city employs 39 firefighters with nine firemen scheduled to be
on duty each shift.

The Seymour Police Department was relocated to the New Seymour Law Enforcement Building on May 8, 2007. The Seymour
department employs 39 sworn officers. All Police officers
complete training at the Indiana State Police Academy, and
continuous training is conducted throughout the year in
different specialties.

The Seymour Transit Department runs the public transit system in Seymour.
Seymour Transit, also called Recycle to Ride, operates five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Just call 522-7433 (522-RIDE) to schedule a pickup at your home.

Seymour appoints a board of directors to oversee The Seymour Housing Authority,
which is available to provide
rental assistance to qualifying families through the Federal
guidelines of HUD. Interested parties may call for more

The management of the facility, as well as the sewers
